Developmental Edits
Do you have a story in need of a fresh perspective? Seeking assistance with that tricky character arc or advice on bringing your fiction world to life? Let’s collaborate!
-
While there are many types of editors in publishing, a developmental editor helps an author strengthen and develop with a focus on character, plot, and worldbuilding. They look at big-picture strengths and weaknesses to ensure your manuscript is free of plot holes, incomplete character arcs, or a lackluster world.
Developmental edits typically happen before a manuscript is ready for copyedits, proofreading, line edits, querying, or publication, but services vary from editor to editor.

A full developmental edit with Wraith’s Fate Press runs $0.002-0.003 per word. This includes a full read through of your manuscript with in-line comments and a detailed editorial letter outlining specific feedback on plot, structure, character, dialogue, and worldbuilding. All edits are done in Microsoft Word, and follow-up questions are included.

Although my expertise lies in young adult/new adult science fiction, fantasy, and horror, I'm open to exploring all genres of fiction. If you have any specific content concerns, we can address them during our initial consultation.

In an earlier stage of drafting but still want some help developing your story? Book an initial consultation anyway, and we can set up a big-picture critique instead of an extensive developmental edit.
